Frequently Asked Questions

First of all let me dispel any myths you may have heard about Life Coaching.

Life coaching is -

  • Receiving non-judgemental support and encouragement with your goals, and ambitions.

  • Having an unbiased listening ear – a sounding board.

  • A way of achieving clarity and structure with a great number of your current life issues.

  • A source of motivation.

  • A way of boosting self-confidence and self-esteem.

  • A way of gaining perspective.

  • Completely confidential.

  • A way of managing aspects of your life that you would rather not bother friends and family with.

  • An effective aid in your personal development journey.

  • A way of helping you to move forwards.

Life Coaching isn’t –

  • therapy or counselling

  • designed for people who are suffering with mental illness or severe clinical/chronic depression

  • an advice service

  • about delving into the past

  • strange or mysterious – it’s straightforward, logical and effective.

  • an expensive luxury

Here are some frequently asked questions about my practice. I hope you find them informative and helpful.

What happens in a coaching session?

Together we look at your issues in a structured way – by talking through the issue and breaking it down we

formulate a plan and I help you to discover the best way of approaching the issue in order to find resolution.

I believe everyone is able to find their own answers if they receive the right kind of help along the way. During

the session, you and I agree on a set of achievable goals for you to start working on. As the programme

progresses I monitor your progress.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s up to you how many sessions you decide upon – many clients find they have made great progress in just

three to six sessions. Obviously there are certain issues that may take longer than that. Together we look at

where you are, where you would like to be and I help you discover the best way for you to reach those

goals. I use a number of coaching models and exercises that are designed to bring structure to your personal journey.

I’ve heard that life coaching is expensive – can I afford the fee?

Your initial consultation is completely free of charge, and there is no obligation to continue. You can decide

from my range of prices the type of service that will suit you. Of course, certain life issues take longer to

sort out than others.

What does the client have to do?

There is some work involved in a coaching programme! When people hire a Life Coach they do so because they

want to achieve a goal or sort out an issue that they are finding difficult to resolve. It’s my job to make sure

you stick to the plan and actually complete the goals – so as a client you will be required to commit to the

process. It’s also my job to challenge you – if I feel you aren’t doing as much as you could do to achieve

your ambitions I will want to know your reasons – I am here to get you motivated and I want you to get

the best out of your coaching programme – with effort and commitment from both of us it is possible to

resolve the issue and make lasting changes.

What type of issues do clients bring to a session?

Life coaching can be an effective way of managing a large number of day to day issues that feel as though

they are holding you back in some way.

I have dealt with career, weight management, stress, family problems, relationships, finance, small businesses,

and many others. Clients usually want to talk about the type of issues and problems that are nagging away

inside – it’s those things that feel difficult to think about and maybe cause feelings of anxiety or stress – a

problem that is left unchecked can very soon feel overwhelming. Talking about it does make a difference –

especially with someone who is non-judgemental and unbiased. People feel clearer for talking; by breaking

down the components of a problem, we can make it easier to cope with. Coaching helps to break down

the problem into manageable chunks.

What types of people decide to use Life Coaching?

I have clients from all walks of life – life coaching is not just for the rich and famous. My clients are ordinary

people who simply want to get a particular issue in their life sorted out. People who approach coaches are

ready to take action and need a helping hand to get to where they want to be. My prices are not

prohibitively expensive and I offer discounts for multiple sessions and people on benefits.

I’ve seen Life Coaches on television and it all seemed a bit ‘full on’ for my liking?

Very often, the programmes you see on television are produced to make the viewing more entertaining. I

am interested in helping my clients achieve their goals rather than making the process entertaining. I aim

to work at your pace – your own coaching programme can be as intensive as you want it to be.

I’m not goal orientated – will Life Coaching be suitable for me?

Yes! I recognise that goals come in many different forms. Everyone is an individual and not everyone wants

to reach for the sky. You might simply want to talk about aspects of your life and let off some steam. As

your coach, I am responsible for listening to you and not judging you. Your personal goals are unique to you

no matter what they consist of. Personal achievement comes in many forms and I can help you gain clarity

on most aspects of your life.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. If you decide to book a session I will send you a welcome letter or email and all I ask is that your

payment is made in advance.

What details will you need to take from me?

I usually take your name, address and telephone number. These details remain confidential and for my

records only.

How can I find out more?

Please give me a call on 020 8621 0510. If I am not available, I am probably with a client so leave me a

message and I will call you back. Alternatively send me an email. I am happy to answer any questions

you might have.

What experience and qualifications do you have?

I’ve been working in various roles involving people development for 15 years. I am a qualified coach and hold

an ASET accredited diploma with the Life Coaching Institute. I also pride myself on my excellent customer

service and have an NVQ in Customer service.

I am also a qualified Distance learning Tutor and hold a diploma in Distance tutoring. I currently work with a

large number of students currently training to be Life Coaches with the Life Coaching Institute.

What’s your success rate?

None of my clients has ever failed to reach their goals and 99% of my clients return to work with me on

further goals. I can guarantee that you will experience success at making the changes you desire, provided

you are committed to the program.

What areas of the country do you work in?

I am based in Ealing, West London but because most of my work is done over the phone, I can work with

clients anywhere in the world.

Is telephone coaching effective?

Very. Rest assured I am highly experienced in dealing with people on the telephone. I have worked in call

centres at management level and have trained many people in telephone and customer service techniques.

What are your working hours?

I am happy to arrange an appointment that fits around your schedule, including evenings and weekends

(subject to availability).

Do you work face to face?

Face to face sessions are available – get in touch with me if you would like to discuss your requirements.

Is Life Coaching suitable for everyone?

It is suitable for most people – bear in mind that Coaching is about defining, setting and achieving goals

and changing behaviour.  If you are suffering with severe depression or have issues that stem from your

past I would recommend person centred counselling or psychotherapy as your first option.
